Make delicious cinnamon flavored coal candy for those on your “naughty” list! We flavored ours with cinnamon, but 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of any flavor super strength candy oil can be substituted.
You can easily package a few pieces of coal in a clear cello bag or include it on your cookie trays. Either way, you family and friends will love it.
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 3/8 cup corn syrup
- 3/8 cup water
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp Black gel food colour
- 1/2 tsp extract/flavouring/oil optional*
- Line a 9×7 baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, bring sugar, corn syrup, and water to a boil. Once at a boil, stop stirring and allow mixture to boil until it registers 300°F on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and immediately stir in baking soda until incorporated. Then stir in food colour and extract until well-combined. Pour mixture into parchment lined pan and allow mixture to cool to room temperature. Remove candy from pan and break into coal shaped pieces.
